Paul Onwukwe, Onyekachi Nnaji, Chartered Accountant, Banker, Risk Manager and Strategic Planner was born on March 14, 1972 at Okehi 2 in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State. He had his early education at State School 2 Okehi Etche between 1977 and 1982 where he obtained First School Certificate and Community Secondary School Umuozoche Igbodo Etche between 1983 and 1987 as well as Rivers State School of Basic Studies, Rumuola Port Harcourt in 1988 for the West African School Certificate (WASC). He attended Rivers State Polytechnic (Presently Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic), Bori from 1992 to 1996 where he obtained HND in Accountancy with distinction. He also obtained a PGD in Business Studies from Rivers State University (RSU), Port Harcourt in 2005, a B.Sc (Hons.) in Finance & Banking with second class upper division in 2007, M.Sc in Accounting in 2014 and Ph.D in Accounting all from University of Port Harcourt.
Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008 and in 2011 became one of the pioneers of Microfinance Certified Bankers of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (MCIB). He is also a member of Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM) and had in the past undertaken many in-service trainings with Central Bank of Nigeria (2004, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011), Lagos Business School (2008), Centre for Microenterprise Development Lagos (2008), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (2009) and LAPO Academy for Microenterprises Development, Benin City (2012).
He undertook his National Youths Service Corp (N.Y.S.C) programme at the Treasury Department of Asa L.G.A of Kwara State during the 1996/1997 service year and began his working career as Audit trainee with Harold Dan-Jumbo & Co (Chartered Accountants) 1998 – 2000 during which he was also seconded to Sak Ladikpo & Co. (Chartered Accountants). He served as the Admin/Accounts Manager of Emfubec Oil Company Ltd. (Independent Petroleum Marketers) Aba in 2001. He joined Choba-Uniport Community Bank Ltd. in 2002 where he held positions such as Credit/Marketing Officer (2002 – 2004), Accountant/Head of Operations (2004 – 2006) and when the community bank converted to U & C Microfinance Bank Ltd he has held positions such as Head of Finance/Accounts (2006 – 2013), Head of Operations (2013 – 2014) and was appointed the Ag. Managing Director/CEO of the bank in July, 2014 and the Managing Director/CEO in December, 2015 till date.
In September, 2020 Dr. Nnaji was elected the Chairman of National Association of Microfinance Banks (NAMB), Rivers State Chapter. His dynamism, innovative abilities and strength of character are essential ingredients towards a sustainable microfinance industry.
Dr. (Mrs.) Felicia Jones Ayuwo was born in Ataba Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State. She attended Rivers State University, Port Harcourt where she bagged a bachelor degree in Accounting (1983-1987). She went further to obtain M.Sc in Accounting (2003-2009) and Ph.D also in Accounting (2009-2012) all from University of Port Harcourt.
She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001 and became an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and in 2013 was elevated to a Fellow of the same institute. She had served in various capacities both at the District and National levels of ICAN. In 2016, she became the Chairman of ICAN Port Harcourt and District Society.
She undertook her NYSC programme in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria where she served as Accounts Officer 1987-1988 and Internal Auditor 1988-1991 with the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron. From 1991 to 1993 she worked with the Rivers State Ministry of Works and Transport as an Account Officer. She joined the services of University of Port Harcourt in 1993 where she served in various capacities as Accountant 1 (Treasury) 1993 – 1994. Reconciliation officer 1994-1995, Treasury Accounts Officer 1995-1997, Treasury Officer 1997-1999, Faculty of Education Finance Officer 2000-2005, Accountant College of Continuing Education (CCE) 2005 – 2007, Chief Accountant (Treasury) 2007-2008. She rose from that position to Deputy Bursar in 2008 and presently the Bursar of University of Port Harcourt.
She has served in various committees in the University ranging from: Bursar Representative on the Uniport 13th convocation (1994),Bursary Committee on Review of Accounting Procedure and Financial Guidelines (1998), Bursary Department Committee on University Strategic Planning (2001), Faculty of Engineering Committee on Financial Activities of the Faculty (2005), Committee on Uniform Accounting System of Nigerian Universities (2006), Board of Governors, College of Continuing Education (2010-2012), ICPC- Anti-Corruption transparency Unit, Uniport (2013), Project Accountant and Member Steering Committee for Africa Centre of Excellence in Oil Field Chemical Research (CEFOR)- a World Bank Project (2014).
She became the Bursar of the University of Port Harcourt on January 1, 2019 and was appointed a Director of U&C Microfinance Bank on January 25, 2019. Her professionalism and expertise in Accountancy will take the microfinance industry to a higher level.
Mark Amachree Roman is a Chartered Accountant, an Evangelist and a visionary Administrator who was born on April 4, 1956 at Akinima Ahoada West Local Government Area, Rivers State. He attended Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt (1978-1982) where he obtained Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy with Upper Credit and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management from the same school in 2007. Between 2008 and 2009, he attended the Redeemed Christian Bible College, where he obtained a PGD in Theology with Credit.
He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) in 2003. He also became a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM) in 1997 and was elected a Fellow (FNIM) in 2011.
He began his cognate working experience as an Accounts Clerk with the Rivers State Schools Management Board, Port Harcourt from 1976 to 1978 and in 1983 served briefly as Payroll Officer at the Rivers State Governor’s office. He joined the services of University of Port Harcourt in 1983 and has worked in different capacities such as Sectional Head, Foreign Exchange, Customs/Passages and Insurance (1983-1986), Sectional Head, Payroll and Pensions (1986 – 1989), Sectional Head, Students’ Accounts (1989-1991), Head, Treasury Section (1991). Mark was appointed Bursar and a Principal Officer of University of Port Harcourt from 2007 to 2012 and from 2014 till date (2020) has been the Director of Revenue Bureau of the same University.
He served as a Director of U & C Microfinance Bank Ltd between 2007 and 2012 where he held brief for the Board Chairman at intervals and reappointed as Independent Director of the Bank in 2018.
Onome Diamond Ayo Unuavwodo hails from Ofuoma – Ughelli in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State and was born on 11th June, 1962. He attended Sapele Technical College Sapele Delta State (1974 – 1979) where he obtained City & Guildes Certificates in Block Laying and Concreting as well as Construction Processes and Materials. He attended Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State (1983-1989) where he obtained National Diploma (ND) in Civil Engineering in 1986 and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil/Structural Engineering in 1989. He also obtained a PGD in Civil Engineering from Rivers State University, Port Harcourt in 2000.
Onome became a professional member of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in 2002, Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in 2005 and that of Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE) 2014. His working career includes NYSC member at Works Department, Dukku L.G.A. Bauchi State (1990), Civil Engineer Kris Akioya Nigeria Ltd. Warri (1991), Civil Inspector/Site Rep. on Shell Projects with Oversea Technical Services (OTS) Warri (1991 – 1993), Construction Supervisor, Engineering Department, Operations Division, Total Exploration & Production Nigeria Ltd (1994 – 1996). Other positions held in Total Exploration & Production Nigeria Ltd are Civil Works Supervisor/Superintendent, Construction and Logistics Department, Operations Division (1996 – 2004), Project Engineer, Community Projects Department, Sustainable Development Division (2004 – 2005), Head Onshore Projects, Community Projects Department, Sustainable Development Division (2005 – 2007), Head, Community Projects, Community Relations Department, External Relations Division (2007 – 2010), Manager, Offshore Community Affairs Department, Community Affairs Division (2010 – 2016) and Manager, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Strategy & Implementation Department, Community Affairs & Development Division (2016 – 2018). He has broad experience in community/sustainable development, MoU negotiations, implementations, monitoring and evaluations.
He became a Shareholder of U & C Microfinance Bank Ltd through the 2017 private placement recapitalization exercise and was appointed a Director of the Bank in July 2018. His wealth of experience in the private sector is a great asset to the Bank.
Dominic Ogbonna Amaugwu hails from Umuokele Ndashi in Etche Local Government area of Rivers State. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the United States of America, Certified Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA).
He had his early education at State School Ndashi Etche between 1969 and 1974 where he obtained First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). He attended St Joseph’s Secondary School Umuaturu Etche from 1975 to 1979 and obtained West African School Certificate (WASC). In 1982 he travelled to United States of America and by May 1983, he got an Associate Degree (Cum Laude) in Arts from Redlands Community College, El Reno, Oklahoma USA. In May 1985 he bagged a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Accounting and in May 1987 a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance all from University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, Oklahoma USA. Between spring 1991 and spring 1992 he also attended Advanced Business Courses at Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts, Oklahoma City, Ok, USA.
He began his working career as Protocol Officer at Rivers State Liaison Office, Victoria Island, Lagos (1980 – 1981). In United States of America, his working experience includes; Staff Accountant, H.C. Okere CPA, Inc. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (1988 – 1991), Accountant – Assistant Controller, Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma (1992 – 1993), Revenue Accountant, Harris County Auditor’s Office (1994–1995).
He is currently the President & CEO of Dominic O. Amaugwu PC (Professional Corporation), a regional Certified Public Accounting firm based in Houston, Texas, USA, which he started in 1995 after leaving Harris County employment. He is also the Chairman, Board of Directors, Asha One Creative Investments Nig. Ltd. and the Managing Director/Partner, Gulfton Holdings, LLC – a United States based Real Estate Investment Limited Liability Company. Dominic’s wealth of experience cuts across financial and tax accounting, management consulting, clients’ representation, litigation support, auditing, budgeting and real estate management.
He became a Shareholder of U & C Microfinance Bank Ltd through the 2017 private placement recapitalization exercise and was appointed a Director of the Bank in July 2018. His deep private sector background is a great asset to the Bank.
Selina Ngowari Inko-Tariah, a Legal luminary and administrator per excellence was born on 13th October, 1966 at Okrika Rivers State. She holds a Bachelor Degree in law (LLB) from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and BL (Hons) from the Nigerian Law School Lagos where she was called to Bar in 1990. Mrs. Inko- Tariah previously served in the Legal department of Allied Bank of Nigeria Plc from where she amassed appreciable experience in corporate legal matters especially in the financial sector. Mrs. Inko-Tariah is a consummate professional with membership of an avalanche of professional associations such as: Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, International Federation of Women Lawyers, Association of Professional Mediators and the Nigerian Institute of Management.
Before her appointment as the Company Secretary /Legal Adviser of U&C Microfinance Bank Ltd, she had acquired a vast experience and professional expertise in corporate legal matters from her private practice and the University of Port Harcourt where she is currently the Head of Legal Unit.
